In partnership with Military education centers on O`ahu, Hawai’i Pacific University operates 5 National Test Centers (NTC) on Hickam Air Force Base and Pearl Harbor Naval Station (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam), Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, Tripler Army Medical Center, and Schofield Barracks.  These test centers offer all computer-based College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). Many of these assessments are free for DANTES-funded candidates. They also administer GMAT, certification exams from NREMT, AMT, PTCB, CompTIA, Cisco, and many others. This service is provided for all individuals, with Department of Defense-issued identification, regardless of school affiliation.

Policies and Procedures

The National Testing Centers operated by Hawaii Pacific University is open to all Active Duty Service Members, Reserve component, Military spouse and family members, and DoD employees.  All testing candidates must have a valid DoD identification card.  As outlined in our MOU with the Military, the testing sites cannot offer services to any candidate without valid identification, even scheduled appointments.

DANTES funds administrative and testing fees for selected groups:

• Military personnel (active duty, reserve, National Guard): Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army and Air National Guard
• Spouses and civilian employees of: Air Force Reserve, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Coast Guard (active and reserve)
• Non Traditional Education Support (DANTES) will no longer fund CLEP exams for spouses and civilians of the Air National Guard.

Veterans, Dependents/spouse of Active Duty Military, Inactive Guard or Reserve, Coast Guard Auxiliary:

The $25 administrative fee is required to take your exam and must be paid online prior to testing (Transact | Military Centers). The testing fees are non-refundable and paid when you register and order your test online for CLEP. All DSST exams are paid on the day of testing and the Test Administrator will guide you through this process.

DSST and CLEP only accepts credit/debit cards.

CLEP Exams

Please register online for an account for CLEP.  After registering for an account, please order your exam and print your registration ticket to bring with you on the day you test. Please follow the link to get started.

Please register online for an account with DSST. After you have registered for an account, just remember to bring your username/password with you on the day you test. The Test administrator will help you to order you exams at the test center. Please follow the link to get started.

Pearson Vue

Technical and professional certifications offered through Pearson Vue are not eligible for walk-in status and must be scheduled online. Please note if this is your first registration for any Pearson Vue exam, you will be prompted to create a profile.  By default, Pearson Vue will send you a link to the civilian portal once your profile is verified.  Select the link on this page if you wish to utilize test centers on Military facilities.

Pearson Vue exams include, but are not limited to, CompTIA (A+, Security+, Network+, etc), NREMT, CIW, Cisco, Excelsior College Exams.

GMAT

Registration for the graduate management admission test is completed online.  The website lists the current exam fee and test preparation resources.

Register for CLEP exams

First time CLEP Account and CLEP Test Registration

1. Go to https://prod.idp.collegeboard.org/.
2. Click on the Create an Account
3. Enter all information to the best of your ability.

• Use an CIVILIAN e-mail account

Use a civilian e-mail. Make sure the username and password are something you can remember!

1. Agree to the Terms and Conditions and click Next.
2. Confirm the information is correct by checking all the boxes adjacent to your personal information and click Confirm(Click Edit to make any corrections).
3. Sign-in with the password you just made (You will likely have to do this multiple times through the registration process, so don’t forget your password!).
4. Click on the Manage My Profilebutton in the purple box on the right.
5. Under Address and Contact, Click on the Edit This Information
6. Add in a primary phone number, then save it.

• Under Personal Details, Click on Edit This Information and fill in everything.

 

*****ACTIVE DUTY*****

There is a question asking “Are you eligible for DANTES funding and are not a veteran?” Pick YES. (There is a link to a PDF with Eligibility Rules, if you are not certain that you qualify)

1. Enter in the additional information requested. then click “Save” when you are finished.
2. Under General Survey, Click Edit this Informationand answer all questions to the best of your ability, then save.

*Preferred Test Center don’t pick a preferred test center. However, selecting a preferred test center will NOT prevent you from using other test centers.

3. When finished, click Back to My Accountat the top of the page.
4. Near the top of the Account page, click on the dark blue rectangular box that reads CLEP EXAMS.
5. On the CLEP Exam page Click the subject associated with your test, then find the exam you wish to take. Click on and check the box adjacent to the exam title and price.

　**For Active Duty the “DANTES Funded” option will change the total to $0 when you reach the payment portion of the check-out process.

 

6. Begin the checkout process and verify all information as it is displayed.
7. Select a Score Recipient

**If you are sending your scores to Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard (JST), you may select “Do not send score” for your Score Recipient. For Air Force you need to search for CCAF.

If you are registered or are registering for a university or college, it is recommended to select that school. Your score will still be applied to your military-based transcript.

8. When finished click Save and Continue.
9. On the Check Out and Registration page

*Active Duty* Review your order and confirm your total is $0.

Scroll down to the end of the page review the College Board Terms and Conditions. Check the box if you agree. If you do not check the box you will not be able to take the exam.

After you have successfully placed your order, click on the link “Print your Registration Ticket” and print it. Bring your printed Registration Ticket to the Test MCP Testing Center.

 

Once you have registered, your registration is good for 6 months. You do not need to call HPU National Test Center offices to make an appointment. Just come to the test site during walk-in hours with a copy of your test registration confirmation and your military ID and you will be seated at the next available workstation.

Registration for DSST Exam

First-Time Registration for the DSST Exam

 

1. Go to https://tcnet.prometric.com/dsst to create your account.
2. Click on Register Now.
3. You do not need to fill out the Prometric Testing ID.
4. Under “Select a Test Provider or Program” Active Duty Members select DSST MILITARY.
   1. If you areNOT Active Duty, select DSST.
   2. For practice test, select DSST Practice Exams.
5. Create an account and fill in all the appropriate information.
   1. We recommend for a username and password something easy to remember or one that mimics your email.
6. Please use a Civilian Email address.

 

Test Center Code:

Choose the location you plan on taking your exam, enter the appropriate code in the “Test Center Code” box.

Hickam: 7115

K-Bay: 7120

Schofield: 7124

If for any reason you change locations your test center code can be modified on the day of the test.

• If your scores are going to a specific institution please go to the following webpage http://getcollegecredit.com/institutions/search/ and look up the Institutional Code and type it into the box.

7. Once finished, click Submitat the bottom.
8. The next page should be the Welcome page. Click Continueand log out.

 

You will need to bring your DoD picture identification card, username, and password with you for your exam.

Register for a Pearson VUE Exam

Candidates are directed to schedule appointments through the Pearson Vue website (https://home.pearsonvue.com/) or through the Pearson Vue Call Center, as directed below.

Pearson Vue candidates can register and schedule by:

1. Visting the Pearson Vue website, https://home.pearsonvue.com/OR
2. By calling the Pearson Vue Call Center. Candidates can phone the call center at 1-866-899-6189 (toll free) Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. central standard time.

More information about registering and scheduling a Pearson Vue exam:

Visit www.pearsonvue.com/programs and select the relevant test program from the Test Taker Services section. Next, select ‘Schedule a Test’ on the right-hand side of the page and complete the necessary fields. Upon confirming the booking, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Pearson VUE. At a minimum, this confirmation will contain information such as the time, date, and location of your test, including directions to the test center.
