It was another busy summer for HPU Faculty Emeritus Ken Schoolland (he retired from HPU in August 2025 and continues his affiliation) who crisscrossed across China, Argentina, and Japan to present on the economics of moral hazard, free trade, and taxes and redistribution. Schoolland presented at seminars in Shenzhen, Shenyang, Córdoba, then joined the Liberty International World Conference in Buenos Aires, wrapping up with a comparative-reform talk at the Free Economy Workshop in Yokkaichi.

From mid-July to mid-September 2025, Schoolland bounced between workshops and conference halls, swapping jet lag for lively Q&A. His insightful topics played out across borders and audiences, proving (once again) that economics is a global conversation.

Along the way, his much beloved economics book, The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible, was included in conversations (that is no surprise, as the book’s been translated nearly 60 times and adapted for stage and screen). The spirit behind Gullible is to make economics both informative and fun, and the book is sure to inspire and educate generations of students and fans for decades to come.

Whether standing behind a podium in Buenos Aires or Yokkaichi, Schoolland’s approach is the same: meet people where they are, then invite them to see how ideas travel. It’s a method that’s inspired thousands of students and fueled a body of work that keeps finding new readers, new stages, and new airports. Like you, we cannot wait to see where Schoolland travels to next!
