New Student Resources

Welcome to Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Sharks!

Here are some resources for new first-time freshman and new transfer students.

Next Steps

1. Complete your Pre-registration Form

This form will be sent to you from advising@hpu.edu. It will collect information from you regarding your education (grades, AP credit, Dual Credit, etc.) and preferences for general education courses. Your advisor will use this form to register you for your first semester courses. If you have not received this form, please email advising@hpu.edu

2. Contact Your Advisor

If you have questions about your schedule or have more information to share with your advisor after submitting your pre-registration form, you can Schedule An Advising Appointment. To learn more about who your advisor is, you can visit Meet Your Undergraduate Advisor.

Schedule changes must be initiated by contacting your advisor (before the semester starts) or by submitting an Add/Drop Form to your advisor (after the semester starts).

3. TAKE the Writing and/Or Math placement exam (Optional)

For some majors, it is recommend for students a writing and/or math placement exam to be placed into the appropriate level courses. If your advisor recommends taking either exam, the instructions on how to access it can be found here.

4. View Your Schedule

Log in to MY.HPU.EDU. Navigate to Student Services > Schedule > Select Term > Submit. Your schedule will include course titles, campus (location), credits, start and end dates, meeting days and times, and instructor names.

5. Submit Your Final Transcripts and Reports to HPU Admissions

This may include your high school transcript with final grades and graduation/diploma awarded date; first-party dual credit transcripts, Advanced Placement Exam scores, or SAT/ACT scores. All transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing party to HPU Admissions Office to be evaluated for transfer credit. Transcripts or reports issued to the student or sent to the University by the student will not be considered official.

1. Submit your enrollment deposit

Submitting your enrollment deposit will give you access to course registration. You may be asked to cancel or reschedule your advising appointment if you have not taken this step, as you will not be able to register for courses. Please contact HPU Admissions Office to submit your deposit or request a waiver if eligible.

2. submit official transcripts

This gives your advisor the information needed to recommend courses for your first semester at HPU. If you do not have your official transcripts submitted, please be prepared to share a copy of your unofficial transcript during or before your appointment. Once any in-progress courses are completed, you will need to submit an official transcript with final grades (or degree conferral if applicable) to be evaluated for transfer credit.
