Dingilizwe “Clarence” Ncube, Project Manager for Facilities and Sustainability at Hawaiʻi Pacific University, served as a panelist this past spring during a commercial building clean energy session as part of the Energizing Oʻahu workshop series.

The session, held at the Entrepreneurs Sandbox in Honolulu, brought together clean energy experts, building owners, workforce partners, nonprofits, and public sector stakeholders to advance practical solutions for decarbonizing commercial buildings.

As a panelist, Ncube shared insights on implementing clean energy strategies in Hawaiʻi’s commercial building sector, including challenges related to tenant‑occupied facilities and the importance of cross‑sector collaboration. The workshop featured a moderated panel discussion and breakout sessions focused on identifying key barriers, such as financing constraints, regulatory challenges, and workforce gaps, as well as developing actionable strategies to accelerate clean energy adoption.

This engagement highlights HPU’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and partnership in support of Hawaiʻi’s clean energy transition and a more resilient future for the islands.
