Visiting Student Course Lists

Visiting students may only enrol in courses from the pre-approved course lists provided below. If you have any questions regarding course selection, please contact visiting@hpu.edu.

 

Important Registration Information

Full-Time Enrollment Requirement

U.S. immigration regulations require international students studying on an F-1 visa to maintain full-time enrollment throughout the semester.

  • Undergraduate students: Minimum of 12 credits
  • Graduate students: Minimum of 9 credits

Undergraduate and Graduate Course Enrollment

Students may only enroll in courses at their academic level:

  • Undergraduate students may enroll only in undergraduate courses (1000–4999 level).
  • Graduate students may enroll only in graduate courses (5000–6999 level).

Course Level Guide

Undergraduate Courses

  • 1000–1999: Freshman-level courses (typically introductory courses with few or no prerequisites)
  • 2000–2999: Sophomore-level courses (may require prior coursework)
  • 3000–4999: Junior and Senior-level courses (often require significant academic preparation and one or more prerequisites)

Graduate Courses

  • 5000–6999: graduate-level courses

Course Approval Requirement

Before registration, all visiting students must have a:

Students are responsible for confirming transferability of credits with their home institution.

Prerequisite Information

  • Courses Marked "W" (Writing Intensive) = These courses require strong English-language writing. Students should be prepared for substantial writing assignments and academic research.
  • Courses Marked "M" (Mathematics Requirement) = These courses require quantitative reasoning skills and a foundation in college-level mathematics, including pre-algebra and pre-calculus.

Campus Locations

  • DTC – Downtown Campus
  • WMC – Waimānalo/Makapuʻu Campus

Students should allow at least 60 minutes of travel time between the two campuses.

Meeting Days

Course schedules use the following abbreviations:

  • M = Monday; T = Tuesday; W = Wednesday; R = Thursday; F = Friday

Each course meets either once per week for 2,5 hours or twice per week for 1,15 hrs.

Registration Deadline

The deadline to submit course selections and complete registration is:

  • Fall 2026 semester: August 10, 2026
  • Spring 2027 semester: December 18, 2026

 

Please note that course availability is subject to change and enrollment limits. Early submission is strongly recommended, as some courses may fill before the registration deadline.
