IRB Meeting Schedule and Review Cadence

The Hawaiʻi Pacific University Institutional Review Board (IRB) meets once per month, generally on the first Friday of each month.

 

Full Board Review Submissions

Research projects that require full board IRB review must be submitted no later than the 15th of the month preceding the scheduled meeting in order to be placed on the agenda for the following month’s meeting.

Submissions received after this deadline will be reviewed at the next available IRB meeting.

 

Exempt and Expedited Reviews

Research projects eligible for Exempt or Expedited review are reviewed on a rolling basis and do not require review at a convened IRB meeting.

• Exempt and Expedited submissions are typically reviewed within two weeks of submission.

• Reviews will result in either:

  • IRB approval, or

  • Feedback and requested modifications communicated to the researcher.

Investigators are encouraged to submit materials well in advance of anticipated start dates to allow adequate time for review and any required revisions.
