Phi Alpha

Purpose:

To provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.

HPU CHAPTER: THETA OMICRON
This national honor society recognizes academic achievement by students in the social work program.

 
Eligibility (Undergraduate):
  • Be currently enrolled in HPU's social work degree program.

  • Be at least junior status. 

  • Have completed a minimum of 9 credits social work courses including SWRK 2010 or its equivalent.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.25 for the required social work courses.

  • Have a cumulative GPA in all courses that count towards the degree of 3.0 or higher.

 
Eligibility (Graduate): 
  • Be currently enrolled in HPU's Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program.

  • Have completed a minimum of 15 credits of required MSW courses.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the required social work courses

 
Membership Dues:

National membership fee (lifetime membership, certificate, & pin): $30.00

HPU membership fee (honor cords, induction ceremony, & community involvement): $20.00

TOTAL PAYMENT: $50.00 to be paid upon notification of acceptance.
