The Office of First Year Programs wants new HPU students to have experiences that provide a sense of connection to Hawai'i and local culture. Registration will open one month prior to the event and close when spaces are full. Some events will fill up quickly, so make sure to sign up soon!

stealing hawai'i: the rise and fall of the last queen

Honolulu Exposed presents its entertaining historical tour of "Stealing Hawaii: The Rise and Fall of the Last Queen." A journey through the life of Queen Lili`uokalani, a high born chiefess who witnessed her kingdom's unwilling transformation from its own country into the territory of a foreign power. Normally $25 per student, HPU is covering this cost so you can learn about this major historical turning point of the Hawaiian islands. It is recommended you bring a hydroflask of water, and wear comfortable clothing and footwear, a hat and sunblock.

First Year Programs is proud to host an HPU exclusive Paint Night!  Enjoy a relaxing step-by-step tutorial of a simple yet beautiful piece. No experience necessary. Paint night themes are inspired by the beauty of the Hawaiian islands. Our subject will be the O'ahu south beach horizon featuring the iconic Diamond Head volcano. Snacks and refreshments provided!

"Sefina and Mele are in love, their engagement and deep bond reinforced by their shared Samoan heritage. When they suddenly find themselves tangled in a web of hidden truths, denial, and lies, their future together is threatened. Fa'alavelave tackles a darkly taboo topic with humor in a queer Samoan context."

Signing up will give you free admission to this show! Pre-show snacks provided as well, but will need to be consumed prior to entering the theater.
