Research Interests:
Jennifer M. Lynch, Ph.D., is Director of the Center for Marine Debris Research at Hawaiʻi Pacific University and Affiliate Faculty at the University of Hawaiʻi. She previously spent 22 years at the National Institute of Standards and Technology developing analytical methods for environmental contaminants and polymers.
Her research examines the chemical composition, quantities, sources, weathering, and environmental impacts of marine plastic pollution in Hawaiʻi and advances circular-economy solutions such as recycling derelict fishing gear into infrastructure products. She has mentored over 50 graduate students and published over 80 peer-reviewed works on persistent organic pollutants and marine plastic pollution.
