Job Summary


THIS IS A PART-TIME STUDENT WORKER POSITION.
As a Podcast Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping us create insightful, entertaining, Hangin’ at the Reef podcast episodes. You will assist in scheduling, writing scripts, conducting research on relevant topics, and supporting other administrative tasks as needed. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for storytelling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Keen attention to detail for proofreading and fact-checking
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and troubleshoot problems
  • Basic understanding of AI
  • Interest in research and script writing

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in podcasting or audio production
  • Basic understanding and adherence to HPU’s established brand standards

 

Key Responsibilities

SCHEDULING AND SCRIPT WRITING (50% OF TOTAL JOB)

  • Coordinate and manage podcast recording schedules with guests and team members.
  • Communicate with all parties involved to ensure smooth scheduling and logistics.
  • Assist in drafting scripts for episodes, ensuring they align with the podcast’s tone and style.
  • Collaborate with podcast production team to refine and finalize scripts before recording sessions.
  • Maintain organized records of episodes, guest information, and schedules.
  • Support the team with any additional tasks related to podcast production and promotion.

RESEARCH (20% OF TOTAL JOB)

  • Conduct thorough research on topics relevant to upcoming episodes.
  • Gather background information, statistics, and insights to support discussions and
  • enhance content quality.
  • Assist in brainstorming and developing episode ideas and themes.
  • Help identify potential guests and reach out for collaboration opportunities.

PRODUCTION (25% OF TOTAL JOB)

  • Use AI tools to summarize and describe podcast episodes, and develop a concise narrative and title.
  • Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Premiere Pro) to assist in editing audio tracks, including the addition of sound beds and basic edits for clarity and flow.
  • Listen for necessary edits in raw audio files, ensuring the final track is clean and polished.
  • Assist with publishing episodes on Acast, preparing audio for YouTube (ensuring proper formatting and synchronization), and supporting social media promotion efforts.
  • Add show notes, relevant links, and other supporting content to enhance the episode's presentation and accessibility.

BRAND ALIGNMENT (5% OF TOTAL JOB)

  • Assess that content created meets HPU’s established brand standards.
