Important Notes

Full-Time Enrollment Requirement

All international students must comply with U.S. immigration regulations, which require full-time enrollment. Undergraduate (Bachelor) level students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits. Undergraduate tuition is a flat rate that includes 12 to 17 credits per semester. Any credits beyond 17 are charged additionally.

Course Prerequisites

· Courses with a "W" (Writing): Require background knowledge in university-level English writing and research.

· Courses with an "M" (Math): Require foundational knowledge of pre-algebra and pre-calculus.

· Courses with an asterisk (*): Require advanced knowledge of the subject matter.

 Course Numbering System

· 1000-1999: Freshman-level courses, typically without prerequisites.

· 2000-2999: Sophomore-level courses, many of which have college-level prerequisites. Freshman and sophomore courses are, together, designated as “lower-division.”

· 3000-4999: Upper-division courses, which require substantial preparation and prerequisite courses.

 Course Locations and Planning

· Campus Locations: DTC = Downtown Campus; WMC = Waimanalo/Makapu’u Campus. Plan for at least 60 minutes between classes at DTC and WMC.

· Meeting Days Abbreviations: M = Monday, T = Tuesday, W = Wednesday, R = Thursday, F = Friday. Courses listed as "TR" meet on both Tuesday and Thursday.

 Lab Course Requirements

Lab courses must be taken together with their corresponding lecture courses. For example, "Biochemistry I" must be taken with "Biochemistry I Lab."

 Student Responsibility for Meeting Requirements

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the courses they select meet the specific requirements of their home university and/or government funding agency. Each university has its own requirements and credit number conversions.

** Norwegian Students**

Norwegian students should be aware that Lånekassen will typically not approve online or 1000-level courses. Norwegian students are required to enroll in 15 credits.
