Ali Roberts

Ali Roberts

Success Seminar Coordinator

Ali’s varied interests, skills, and experiences have been shaped by a winding journey since her initial college dropout at 19. These experiences sharpened essential teamwork skills and established the foundation for understanding intersectionality. After returning to university, Ali gained the unique perspective of being a non-traditional student while immersing themselves in diverse social science research projects. These included investigating global health disparities, exploring the experiences of LGBTQIA+ students, women, and faculty of color on college campuses, examining impact models in STEM fields with a focus on Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander epistemologies, and delving into research on LGBTQIA+ archives in the United States. Ali has also participated in the planning, execution, and research components of two residential and culturally responsive STEM camps for local high school students in Hawaiʻi. Ali remains dedicated to fostering collaboration and advocating for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) initiatives within university environments. They are also interested in alternative knowledges, especially the significance of visual narratives. Ali’s personal passions are many, including hiking, swimming in the ocean, learning new crafts, and roller skating.
