Dr. Zipporah Brown, a Southern California native, currently lives in Central Western Oregon. She is a passionate practitioner, educator, and trailblazer committed to increasing equitable access to higher education and healthcare.

Dr. Brown is a Board-Certified Diplomate in Lifestyle Medicine who specializes in health promotion with an emphasis on lifestyle optimization, occupational engagement, and community integration/navigation. Additionally, her professional experience as an occupational therapist has focused on establishing occupational therapy’s distinct role in community-based settings. She continues to work with individuals facing complex challenges due to physical, cognitive, developmental, and emotional factors to support them in managing their health.

Dr. Brown entered into academia in 2018 and has served in various roles including: Community-Based Fieldwork Instructor, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, and Core Faculty. She is a proponent of empowering student scholarship and interdisciplinary collaboration. Notably, in 2022, she initiated the integration of lifestyle medicine competencies into a Doctor of Physical Therapy program located in rural Oregon and went on to spearhead a partnership with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine to facilitate the first DPT program approved for the ACLM Partial Academic Pathway program. As a budding leader, she has served in various leadership roles locally and nationally that focus on amplifying student voices, establishing best practices for client-centered care, and advocating for inclusivity within academia and healthcare.

Dr. Brown’s evolving scholarly interests include equity-centered practices, student wellbeing, and occupational therapy’s role in whole person health and behavior change. She has presented at local, state, national, and international levels and published on topics related to her clinical background and research interests. Ultimately, Dr. Brown intentionally uses her formal training and lived experience to contribute to materializing transformational change in the classroom and community.

Dr. Brown also takes great pleasure in spending time with her loved ones, jamming out at concerts, traveling, frolicking in nature, frequenting farmers markets, and exploring new occupations.
