Recent HPU graduates from China celebrate at their commencement ceremony in Waikiki after earning their master's degrees through the HPU-Beacon Education partnership.
HPU is expanding its global reach into Vietnam, offering three of its premier master's degree programs to working professionals across the country. The Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Psychology, and Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence will be delivered online and taught in Vietnamese, extending a world-class HPU education to a new community of learners in Southeast Asia.
“HPU is thrilled to expand our global educational reach into Vietnam with the launch of our premier master's programs," said HPU President John Gotanda. "Extending these programs to Vietnam's ambitious professionals reflects the heart of HPU's mission, making an exceptional education accessible to talented learners, wherever they call home."
Rooted in HPU's innovative, hands-on teaching and learning model, the three programs are designed for working professionals seeking to advance their careers without stepping away from them. Each pairs rigorous academic content with the experiential, real-world learning that defines an HPU education, delivered entirely in Vietnamese for accessibility and relevance to students in Vietnam.
"Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets for advanced professional education in Southeast Asia, and its working professionals are eager for graduate degrees that translate directly into their careers," said HPU Senior Vice President and Provost Alan Shoho, Ed.D. "The timing is right to meet that demand with programs delivered in Vietnamese and grounded in the experiential, hands-on learning that defines an HPU education. Students in Vietnam will earn the same academically rigorous, world-class degree as any HPU graduate."
The Vietnam launch builds on a partnership HPU and Beacon Education established in 2024, when HPU introduced four graduate degrees taught in Mandarin Chinese: the Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, and Doctor of Business Administration. Those programs have proven to be resounding successes. The MBA program graduated its first cohort in fall 2025, and the artificial intelligence program followed in spring 2026.
In Vietnam, Beacon will again provide the full localized infrastructure—marketing, recruitment, instructional design, translation, delivery, and student support—allowing HPU to focus on what it does best: delivering a world-class education to its students.
"Our partnership with Beacon Education keeps bringing talented new learners into the Hawaiʻi Pacific University community, and we are excited by the enthusiasm we're seeing across a range of countries for our innovative programs," said Gotanda.
