Chris Martin Honored As Ke Kaukahi Award Winner
The Special Events and Recognition Committee, on behalf of the Staff Council, presented the Fall 2020 Ke Kaukahi recognition of Excellence award to Chris Martin, Security Manager.
Chris continually goes the extra mile with every assignment: He will not go home or disengage until completing the task at hand, always responding quickly to address any campus situation. He provides the university community with outstanding customer service, which produces positive results. The Security, Safety, and Facilities department values Chris's expertise, judgment, and job knowledge.
Award nominees included the following individuals, and excerpts from their nominations are listed:
Cody Down, Information Technology Services, "works tirelessly to ensure things get done," putting time and effort into implementing new technologies that benefit the HPU community (Zoom, temperature scanning stations, etc.). He coaches his staff to help find efficient ways to support these new initiatives.
Suhui "Susie" Huang, Military Campus Programs, "is always looking for ways to improve student services, and she readily helps with projects as she takes on challenges effortlessly." She serves as the trainer for new associate coordinators, beyond the scope of her job description.
Lauren Nosworthy, Housing and Residence Life, Area Coordinator (AC), serves on an on-call duty rotation for emergencies in the residence halls. While the second AC position was vacant, Lauren "stepped up and served on duty (for six consecutive weeks in the fall)." The nominator recognizes her efforts "to ensure the safety and success of the residential community."
Elizabeth Torres, Libraries and Learning Commons, "strives tirelessly to improve operational workflows" and receives recognition for her communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork and the ability to build morale. Characteristics of her work style include an open-door policy and quick responsiveness to a myriad of inquiries.
