December 15, 2024
09:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Waimea Valley (59-864 Kamehameha Hwy Haleiwa, HI)
Travelling pono means giving something back when visiting a new place, and at Waimea Valley, visitors have the opportunity to do just that. By signing up for one of the community volunteer days, they can learn about the Valley while helping to malama Waimea.
The volunteer program is guided by the well-known ʻōlelo noʻeau (Hawaiian proverb) “ma ka hana, ka ‘ike” (with the work, we learn). These volunteer opportunities are designed to foster deeper connections to the land (ʻāina), animals (holona), plants (lā‘au), freshwater (wai), and the traditional Hawaiian cultural practices that are honored and preserved. Volunteers are provided with training and shared knowledge, allowing them to learn and grow as they contribute their time to the Valley's care.
Note: Community events are shared for awareness but are not necessarily sponsored or endorsed by HPU.
