In today’s digital landscape, we face increasingly sophisticated threats such as ransomware attacks, advanced malware, and well-orchestrated phishing schemes. Alarming statistics reveal that three-fourths of successful data breaches involve some form of credential phishing.

Even more concerning, 30% of individuals in the education sector have reported falling victim to at least one phishing scam in the past year. This figure is steadily climbing as cybercriminals develop increasingly sophisticated and convincing methods of attack.

These figures underscore the critical importance of cybersecurity awareness. We are committed to not only securing and fine-tuning our systems to the highest degree but also fostering a robust cybersecurity culture within our community.

To this end, we are working on the launch of several new comprehensive training programs designed to equip everyone in our community with the knowledge and tools to recognize and combat these threats when they may surface. These new trainings will feature extensive phishing simulations, interactive scenarios, ransomware defense, and incident reporting, equipping everyone with the skills to counter these threats. Our trainings are tailored to highlight the specific threats and compliance needs of each job role, ensuring that everyone is well-prepared to handle the threats they may encounter in their daily duties.

These training sessions are tentatively scheduled for the fall semester, provided all goes as planned, and will be carried out over Mana'o, as well as through ongoing internal phishing test campaigns.

Stay vigilant and informed, and always remember that security starts with you!
