Biography 

Yvonne Duhaylongsod Yim PhD., LCSW, HNA, LPN, grew up in Pearl City, Oahu and graduated from the UH Mānoa with her MSW.  She has taught a multitude of SW courses in the areas of health, aging, practicum seminar, family, crisis, and capstone. In 2021 she obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in Organizational Development & Leadership. As a qualitative researcher Yvonne values the cultural lens of Hawai’i rural communities and their access to health care. She has worked in all areas of health and was most recently the Director of Behavioral Health at the Kalihi Palama Health Center. She is an active volunteer with multiple local nonprofits and initiated a program called “Dear Kupuna: The Art of Letter Writing”. Yvonne is the president for NASW-Hawai’i and in her spare time provides LCSW clinical supervision, runs marathons and is a hula haumana for Ka Pa Nani O Lilinoe.
