Undergraduate Valedictory Speaker Named for Fall 2019 Commencement Ceremony

Christine Tamayo, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Christine Tamayo is from Honolulu, Hawai‘i and is the youngest and only daughter born to Genie and Editha Tamayo. She will be graduating from Hawai‘i Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Instilled with a passion to help others, Tamayo chose to pursue nursing for its truly humbling and rewarding career and finds it an honor and privilege to be with individuals during a time of vulnerability. During her time at HPU, she was an active member of the Student Nurses’ Association and fundraised and volunteered with local organizations, such as Hawai‘i Pacific Health and the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Tamayo is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. After graduation and passing the NCLEX, she will become a cardiac telemetry nurse in Washington and plans to eventually bring back what she learns to the islands. She will continue to encourage those who can to donate blood because of the tremendous reward of saving lives - plus it’s free!
