May 23, 2016
Warren Wee, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA
“I am confident that Dr. Wee’s knowledge and experience with HPU and the College of Business, and his proven ability to work with his colleagues, will serve the college and our university well as we seek a permanent dean,” said Matthew Liao-Troth, Ph.D., provost and vice president of academic affairs.
As the associate dean of the College of Business, Wee has worked closely with the dean, Dr. Deborah Crown, and the faculty, to steward the college’s mission of developing profession-ready global leaders. In January, HPU announced Crown would leave the university in June, moving to Florida to become dean of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business.
Wee brings the office of Interim Dean of the College of Business a wealth of experience both at HPU and in the Honolulu business community. As associate professor of accounting, Wee teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and he has previously served as interim dean of the college.
“I joined the faculty of HPU in 1988 and am deeply committed to the university, the College of Business and our students, and accept the opportunity to lead the college,” said Wee. “Our college is focused on educating through project-based learning with the goal to prepare our students as the next generation of business leaders.”
Wee earned his doctorate in accounting at the University of Washington, and holds professional memberships with the American Accounting Association, Association of Government Accountants, The American Institute of CPAs, Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Management Accountants, and National Society of Accountants. He serves on the board of the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants and formerly served on the Hawaii chapter board of the Institute of Management Accountants. Earlier in his career, Wee worked in the Honolulu office of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, now known as Deloitte.
