HPU Names Down as Associate VP and Chief Information Officer

Honolulu, Hawaii — Hawai‘i Pacific University has named Cody V. Down as Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO), following a nationwide search. Down is currently Director of Information Technology at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU), a private non-profit institution in Yakima, WA. His new post at HPU begins on July 11, 2016.
“Cody’s experience in higher education and knowledge of IT strategic planning will serve us well,” said Bruce Edwards, HPU Chief Financial Officer, who led the search. “His previous successes in implementing new technologies for the classroom and improving network infrastructure will benefit our students and other users. We were also very impressed by Cody’s focus on customer service throughout his career.”

I think that living and working in Hawaii will be enriching for my family and me,” Down said. “I also believe my skills and experience will be a great fit for HPU and I look forward to helping the institution move forward.”
Down directs and oversees all IT operations, development and academic technology at PNWU and its College of Osteopathic Medicine. At PNWU, he also crafted and implemented a comprehensive IT strategic plan.
With more than 20 years of IT experience, including 10 years of both technical and managerial experience at the University of Washington, Down brings an extensive skill set to HPU. A graduate of the University of Washington (B.A., 1995), he is in the process of earning a Master of Science in Information Systems from Minot State University, expected in May 2016.
Down is also a member of Educause, a nonprofit association of IT leaders and professionals committed to advancing higher education, and the Society for College and University Planning, a professional association dedicated to the integration of planning in higher education institutions.
