Dean of HPU College of Business to Take Helm at Top Florida Business School
January 06, 2016
Honolulu, Hawaii – Dr. Deborah Crown, dean of the Hawaii Pacific University College of Business, will leave HPU in June, 2016, to become dean of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business, in Winter Park, Florida.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for Dr. Crown,” said Dr. Geoffrey Bannister, president of HPU. “Rollins College has been regularly ranked Number One in the South by US News, with the part-time MBA program ranked among the top 20 in the nation, and number one in Florida. At the same time, we are all very sorry to know that she will be leaving HPU. She has made tremendous contributions to our College of Business.
“Deborah’s appointment at Rollins Crummer says a lot about her, the quality of our programs,” Bannister continued, “and also speaks to the success of HPU. We can be proud that her outstanding leadership will have a long-lasting impact.”
“It’s not easy to leave HPU,” Crown said. “I love the university, the college, and all the people with whom I have the privilege to work and interact. I’ve been proud to join with our faculty, staff, students, and alumni in creating a strategic plan and an infrastructure that will continue to build into the future because of their efforts. And while I didn’t seek out the position at Rollins, given the people we have in place I know I’m able to join Rollins Crummer Graduate School and be a part of a new team with an outstanding record of excellence and a desire to expand their global reach.”
“I don’t see my transition as a matter of taking off my HPU hat and putting on a Crummer hat,” Crown continued. “I am simply adding a hat to the set. I will always advocate on behalf of HPU and spread the word about its outstanding programs and people.”
Rollins Crummer is a top U.S. school of business, with their portfolio of MBA programs ranked among the top in the nation.
