November 05, 2015
Honolulu, Hawaii — Hawai‘i Pacific University continues a musical tradition, with its 14th Annual Fall Concert, on Saturday, November 21. Huaka‘i: A Musical Journey, features the HPU Symphony, International Chorale, and Vocal and Hula Ensembles, at Central Union Church. The concert begins at 7 p.m., and is free, with donations encouraged through a calabash offering.
The program will spotlight music and dance from Hawaii and the Pacific, and includes a special tribute to the great Hawaiian monarch Queen Emma. A guest choir from St. Andrew’s Priory, under the direction of Naomi Castro, begins the evening with a chant.
“We are excited that the girls will open the performance with a Hawaiian chant in honor of their school’s founder, Queen Emma,” said Teresa McCreary, Director of Performing Arts, at HPU. “Being the 14th year in a row for this annual concert, you can see that HPU loves sharing their arts programs with the community.”
