Please enjoy our eighth issue of Fresh Perspectives: HPU's Anthology of First-Year Writing. This volume, compiled from our Spring 2016 writing courses, features some of the outstanding essays written for Writing 1050, 1100 and 1200.
As with our first seven volumes, we continue to be impressed with diversity of voices, topics, and perspectives reflected in this anthology. Later this semester we will publish a volume from Fall 2016, and we will soon be accepting nominations from Spring 2017 first-year writing classes for our future volume. We are pleased that this anthology has become a regular and integral feature of HPU's First-Year Writing Program, something that both students and faculty look forward to reading and that students can be proud to share with their friends and families. Once again, we hope that our contributors have discovered the deep satisfaction that comes when writing is not just a task undertaken to please a teacher, but a way to reach larger audiences and have a meaningful impact.
