Bachelor of Arts in Human Services, 1990
In 1980, Gavin joined the U.S. Navy. Recently, she was the internal communications manager with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), but left her position this year to spend a year fighting poverty with AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America.
She participates in the University matching gift program, provided media outreach for Earth Day activities in California, and organized employees from PG&E to assist with the Habitat for Humanity “Home in a Box” project for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
“My experiences at HPU inspire me to serve others and give me the courage to question the status quo and head out into, oftentimes the not-so-great unknown, where I continue to learn every day.”

Master of Business Administration, 1988
Lerch is executive vice president of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness for Hawai`i Pacific Health. She oversees more than 5,500 employees on three islands, a corporate office of 400, four hospitals, and 16 clinics.
“Gail has been a consistent friend to HPU,” said Dr. Randy Caine, dean of HPU College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “She demonstrates outstanding leadership in advancing health care and nursing in Hawai`i.”
Lerch is a member of the HPU President’s Fund, the Statewide Nursing Capacity Taskforce, and various other human resources and healthcare organizations.

Giambrone is the co-owner of Element Media, Inc. She credits her education and the mentorship from HPU for the confidence to launch Pacific Edge magazine. Giambrone returns to the classroom often to lecture and mentor students.
She is a board member of the Hawai`i Publishers Association, and a partner in the Business of Networking. She is active in the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai`i, the Kaua`i Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations.
