Fall New Student Orientation
August 23 to August 27, 2016
Passport Week is an informative and fun-filled week for incoming undergraduate first year and transfer students. We will provide wonderful opportunities to meet others, ease your transition to HPU, prepare you for the academic year, and help you become more familiar with the University community. Online orientation registration for Fall 2016 At that time, students may register at https://campus.hpu.edu. Click on the New Student tab.
If you do not see the New Student tab or having problems registering, please email email@example.com. You must have your HPU student ID and HPU student email to register.
Fall 2016 Passport Schedule
The dates for Fall 2016 student orientation are:
- August 23: HPU Kick-Off Reception 6-8 PM - REQUIRED
- August 24: Orientation Sessions - REQUIRED
- August 25: Orientation Sessions - REQUIRED
- August 26: Sharks Service Day
- August 26-27: Optional evening activities. Optional activities require pre-registration and/or pre-purchase prior to the start of orientation. Please reserve tickets through the online orientation registration system and the Orientation UStore. Links will be provided once you complete your orientation registration. Spaces are limited for some events.
Transportation is provided at various times during Passport Week. Refer to the schedule for pick-up and drop-off times and locations. Please be on site at least 10 minutes prior to departure.
Orientation pick-up and drop-off locations:
- Hawaii Loa Campus: Shuttle Stop (45-045 Kamehameha Highway)
- Downtown Campus: Corner of Fort Street and Beretania Street
- Aloha Tower Marketplace (1 ALoha Tower Drive)
The HPU Intercampus Shuttle between the Downtown and Hawaii Loa campuses also runs during Passport Week.
Parking is located around the downtown campus at various municipal parking lots. Rates will vary.
A one-time orientation fee of $120.00 will be charged to the university accounts of all new undergraduate, full-time students in August. New freshman, transfer and visiting students are required to attend. One guest is included in the orientation fee.
Parents and Family Members
Family Orientation will be held on August 23 and August 24. Parents and family members are welcome to attend orientation, but not required. Attendance at Family Orientation for one guest is included in the student orientation fee. More than one family member may attend Family Orientation, but there is a guest fee of $25.00, ages 12 and over.
Family members should attend sessions based on the needs of the family and student.
Students will need to check in at an Orientation Registration Tent on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. At this time, students will also receive guest name tags, an updated schedule, and tickets for the pre-registered or pre-purchased optional activities. The Registration Tent will be located at Aloha Tower Marketplace from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Orientation Kick-Off and Family Reception
The first Orientation event for students and family members is Tuesday, August 23 at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. The event begins at 6:00 pm. The Aloha Tower Marketplace is located at 1 Aloha Tower Drive, Honolulu, HI 96813.
Students and families may take a free Orientation Shuttle from the Downtown Campus Shuttle Stop to the the Aloha Tower Marketplace. Shuttles will depart at 5:00 pm from the Hawaii Loa Campus. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for boarding.
Students and families are also welcome to drive and park at the event. Evening parking is available in public lots surrounding the Aloha Tower Marketplace. There is no validated parking for this event.
Optional Passport Week Events
A number of optional social events are available during Passport Week. Registration information will be included in your orientation confirmation email. These include:
- Ice Skating - August 25, 2016
- Shark Service Day - August 26, 2016
- Circle Island Tour - August 27, 2016
- Manoa Falls Scenic Hike - August 27, 2016
If you purchase any optional events, a separate confirmation email will be sent showing payment.
If you would like to make any changes to your registration, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. You may continue to add optional events, but once submitted, changes must be made directly with the orientation organizers.
Orientation Leaders are returning students who serve as role models, leaders, and resources for new students and their family members.
